MEET THE TEAM
Where we come from
Dra. Marina Pérez-Ferragut
Graduated in Physics from the University of Barcelona (UB) in 2002, she joined the Doctoral Programme in Nuclear Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2003 and completed her PhD on ‘Integration of a quantitative selection procedure in an uncertainty analysis methodology for the safety analysis of nuclear power plants’ in 2011.
Since then, she has continued to collaborate with the UPC group. In 2009, she began working part-time at Innovative Systems Software (ISS) as a technical consultant, collaborating in the development and maintenance of the RELAP/SCDAPSIM code version and collaborating in the preparation and delivery of courses on the use and development of the code. Her main areas of research are safety analysis and uncertainty analysis for light water reactors (LWRs), and the development of system and severe accident codes.
Dr. Victor Martinez-Quiroga
Physicist and doctor of nuclear engineering with more than 18 years of experience in the field of thermohydraulics (TH) and safety analysis using deterministic codes (DSA). For 17 years, he has worked as a researcher and lecturer at the UPC, participating in several international OECD/NEA projects (ROSA, PKL, ATLAS, ETHARINUS), as well as providing DSA support to the Ascó-1, Ascó-2 and Vandellós-2 nuclear power plants.
For seven years, he also worked as an external consultant for Innovative Systems Software (ISS), during which time he developed a 3D kinetics package for RELAP/SCDAPSIM and was responsible for integrating this software with Full Scope simulators.
In 2019, Victor and Marina founded Energy Software S.L. (ENSO) to provide engineering services to the nuclear industry. Today, ENSO participates in several international projects, including HORIZON2020 MUSA, IAEA CRP I31033, European Industrial Alliance on SMRs, and the Horizon Euratom SASPAM-SA project. The company also supplies several companies and institutions around the world, such as Rolls-Royce SMR and NNL in the United Kingdom, CGN - CNPRI in China, NECSA in South Africa, NASA in Argentina, IDOM in Spain, and Newcleo in Italy.
